[[अश्मक]]or “Assak” 16 of historic India [[महाजनपद|महाजनपदों]]was one of many Within the sixth century BC, that’s, 2600 years in the past, there have been 16 Mahajanapadas in historic India. Out of this Ashmak Mahajanapada was the one Mahajanapada positioned within the south. Its capital was Pratishthanpuri i.e. at present’s Paithan metropolis. Which is at present positioned in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) district of Maharashtra. Ashmak Mahajanapada was dominated by the descendants of Lord Shri Ram i.e. the king of Ishwaku dynasty. Later, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a Suryavanshi Kshatriya, was born in his lineage.
