Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced that BPL and Ujjwala category people in his state would be given gas cylinders for Rs 500. Addressing a gathering in Alwar district, CM Gehlot said, ‘The issue of inflation is serious. We will give 12 gas cylinders at the rate of Rs 500 per year to BPL families after April 1 next year. No one should be deprived of the benefits of the government’s welfare schemes. Now in such a situation, from this year the people of the state will start getting cylinders for just Rs.500.

CM Gehlot said, ‘Our government is studying the details. A drama was done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the name of Ujjwala Yojana to give LPG connections and gas stoves. Now their cylinders are lying empty. No one is buying as LPG prices have increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1040. Those who come in BPL or are associated with Ujjwala Yojana, we will study them and from April 1 they will get 12 cylinders per cylinder. Instead of the current price of Rs 1040, we will give cylinders at Rs 500 per year.
