UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar said on Thursday that foreign universities would be given permission to set up campuses in India initially for ten years. On the question of reservation policy, Kumar said, it will be decided by foreign universities. There will be no role of UGC in this.
Some universities in Europe showed interest
Kumar informed that universities from some European countries have shown interest in setting up campuses in India. Universities have to ensure that the quality of education imparted at their Indian campuses is at par with that of their main campus.
