High court stay on UP body elections for now, case stuck on reservation

* High court’s ban on announcing the dates of civic elections till tomorrow *

The Lucknow bench of the High Court restrained the State Election Commission from issuing the notification for the civic polls till tomorrow.

While hearing the petition filed on the issue of giving reservation to OBCs in the civic elections, the Lucknow bench of the High Court sought a response from the government.

Full details of the rules for giving reservation to OBCs will be presented tomorrow in the Lucknow bench of the High Court. Then the matter will be heard. Till then the High Court restrained the State Election Commission from issuing the notification for the civic body elections.

Justice DK Upadhyay and Justice Saurabh Srivastava’s bench gave instructions in the Lucknow bench of the High Court.
